I’m sure there are many of you who are struggling with your long-term professional prospects and silently calculating whether you’ll be able to save enough money to survive until retirement and beyond. It might be a layoff that has sidelined you or a demotion that has demoralized you or it just might be the drudgery of working in a job that you no longer love. Like me, you may have run into the not-so-transparent 50+ age barrier where young workers with low salary demands trump our decades of experience. I know how frustrating each of those scenarios can be because I’ve lived through them all. But I’m here to show you that there is life on the other side of a traditional job.
