HEARTWARMING Immediately got this copy after reading the first in the series! A beautiful collection of poems! My favorite are: Hello? Life Goes On Love Yourself Be Yourself Part Three: Brief Soul was also beautifully done. Lost Property was the highlight of this book. A nice read on a rainy day
A FANTASTIC COLLECTION Author and poet Harmony Kent has a special skill that brings out the envy in many of us. Her ability to translate emotions into written words that touch the soul is quite impressive. On the pages of Life & Soul, she lays bare her own soul, sharing personal tragedies and traumas mingled with love and triumph that come from a will to move forward. Her poems of friendship and what it really means to be loved stand as wonderful examples of a writer at the peak of her talent. Many of her poems are short in length—though long on truth. Among my favorites are: “Fun Friends” “True Friend” “New Girl on the Block” “I Need You” “Love Yourself” As far as poetry is concerned, this is a stellar collection. I am honored to have this in my library.
BEAUTIFUL POETRY FOR THE HEART I read harmony Kent's Life & Soul (Book 2) of contemporary poetry in one sitting, frantically eating her words in one gulp. I wasn't satiated, so I read each poem carefully, thoughtfully, digesting her highs and lows of everyday life, letting them intermingle with my own. Not only did her poems, which have a range of themes and styles, delight me; but they led to my reflecting deeply on my own life. I like the way Kent organizes her poems--the lonely soul, the seeking soul, the loving soul. Whatever state of mind I'm in, I can go to the section I need. I'm still not satiated. I will get Harmony Kent's Book one, Slices of Soul and continue the feast. Thank you Harmony Kent for sharing your life. I highly recommend your books. Marlene Cheng, author.
BEAUTIFUL, MOVING, AND HEARTFELT I found the poems in this book very moving. They really spoke to me. Kent has great talent in evoking deep emotions, spiritual experiences, and even the story of a life in only a few simple words. The volume is divided into six sections, with poems devoted to each theme. There’s Lonely Soul, Seeking Soul, Brief Soul, Friendly Soul, Loving Soul, and The Life of a Soul. While these poems are clearly autobiographical, they concern universal themes that speak to all of humanity. I’m not one for love poems, but the poems dedicated to Kent’s husband in the Loving Soul section are so overflowing with love, so burning with love, so romantic that my cold horror heart couldn’t help but soften slightly reading them. She expresses such a beautiful, pure emotion so well. What a blessing to have someone write such poems about you! The last section, The Life of a Soul, is masterful. It goes through the poets life. It’s amazing how a whole life is displayed in such layered detail with such few, deft brushstrokes. My favorite poems are Life Goes On, from Lonely Soul. True Friend and Be Yourself from Friendly Soul. Lost Property from Loving Soul, and The Life of a Soul. I also commend the formatting of the poems. I have the ebook and the different layout and format of each poem really added to my enjoyment of this volume. I’m sure it looks even better in print.
