Dr. J., Kareem, Jordan, Magic, Kobe, A.I., and LeBron all credit the game of basketball with helping them to become the men that they are. This book uses the game of basketball as an analogy for how you can help a male grow into a responsible man.

The game of basketball can be used to teach leadership, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Basketball can also be used symbolically to help transition boys into mature, responsible, and loving men. Within the game of basketball, “Man-up” is a universal rallying cry that says to a player, “It’s time to dig deep and do your best right now”.
This book is my attempt at repairing the damage that is done when we unintentionally abuse and oppress one another and insult women by asking each other to, “Man-up” with only a negative frame of reference from which to operate. The next time you say, “Man-up” to someone I want you to take 30 extra seconds and explain to them that when you are asking them to, “Man-up”, it has nothing to do with female dogs. You are asking hem to “Master And Nurture (their) Unlimited Potential”. I want you and those words to help them recognize the unlimited power they have to usher success into their lives.
The best way to use this book is to let it serve as a guide and reminder that manhood is a journey not necessarily a destination. This book is designed creates a common ground for honest, frank, and loving conversations about what it means to be a conceptual man in the 21st century. “M.A.N.-U.P.!” is not just another book it’s a philosophy for understanding ones purpose and a plan for how to grow. The power is within you and your potential is truly unlimited.
