In 1983 1 was writing a weekly Fishin’ article for a small newspaper in a small town in Arizona. I wanted to come up With something special for the holidays just for Fishin’ Folks. I had been trying to convert ”The Night Before Christmas" for almost a year With no results.
One morning in October I woke up around 3:00 am, fixed a cup of coffee, and set down to relax. All of a sudden the first part of "A Fisherman's Christmas Eve" popped into my head. I picked up a piece of paper and a pencil and within 30 minutes it was complete.
I took It to my editor and she said, “let's print it on the front page”. The response was fantastic. What a great Christmas present I had given to the folks of our small community.
