There is a great deal of misunderstanding and misinformation regarding plant based diets. “Plant-based diets” cover a large spectrum of dietary disciplines and the definition can vary widely because of this diversity.
The basic premise underlying plant-based diets is that of improved health. As with any prescribed “diet”, there are strongly differing opinions regarding the effectiveness of changing to a diet that emphasizes reducing the consumption of meat and food sourced from animals.
Many may to be surprised to know that following a plant-based diet does not necessarily mean the total cutting out meat, although some followers do.
What is certain is that in spite of the skepticism, a great many people are convinced that their health has been drastically improved by following the principles of one or the other sub-forms of this diet.
