Wendy Watson has been teaching primary (elementary) school for the past 49 years, in NZ and Scotland. She has always been interested in literacy and that has been a passion during her teaching. At present, Wendy teaches ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) students and profoundly autistic students, who have her for 1-1 specialist teaching daily. The majority of her teaching has been with classes of children between the ages of 5-8 with the emphasis of reading and writing. She is trained in Reading Recovery, Speld (Specific learning differences), Davis Dyslexia and DYSCO.co.nz. Wendy is a trained Irlen screener and screens children for dyslexia, at her school of 650 students between the ages of 5-11 years. In short, she knows what makes "good" literature, in particular, children`s literature having read hundreds, probably thousands of books to children over her 49 year career.
While Wendy has only just started to publish ebooks, thanks to Sqribble, Sqrindle and Sendible she has a plethera of resources to make her a top-rate author. She has completed the first story in a series of children`s picture books about "Max the mouse" and has found an illustrator who is at present working on the illustrations. Wendy has published a book of 13 cat poems which were written by her partner and with 6 original paintings created by Kizel for 6 of those cats.
