I have removed this eBook from Kindle. I have priced it at 1/3 of retail. Some of the items may be outdated but most everything is accurate.
I will be writing some new, shorter eBooks that will update the book.
Thanks for your patience!

In plain language you will learn about different radios that are available to you and how to use. With a little training, on your own and with this book, you can use two-way radios to communicate with your loved ones, regardless of whether phone and cell towers are functioning. In addition, you can use these same radios to stay abreast of changing conditions and changing emergency situations.

  • Should you need to talk farther than about 25 miles, amateur (ham) radio is an option that is easier to obtain than in any time in history. This book explains how to listen to hams in your area or world-wide. If you decide you want to get a license to transmit, Chapter 5 is an introduction to ham radio with steps for passing the entry-level Technician license. No Morse Code test is necessary for this nor the two higher-level licenses.
  • In the unlikely event of a very large, long-term disaster, a community FM radio station can be put on the air to help disseminate important news for the immediate area. Step-by-step instructions in this book explain how to set up and run a micro FM station and what equipment is needed.
  • Because we’re used to searching online for all preparedness information, it is wise to keep a copy of important web pages. Create a folder on your computer to hold the web sites. Go to the page you would like to keep and select File/Save As, or File/Save Page As, and specify “Web Page, Complete.” Select your folder and Save. When the Internet is down you can still access these important pages on your computer. Just start your browser and select File/Open and browse to the saved page.

Practice! Don’t buy radio equipment and store it away with your food. Learn to operate your radios and practice monthly. Don’t wait for an emergency to happen and waste time looking for batteries or a radio manual. Have a plan and post it where your whole family can see it.
