Editing as seen through the eyes of long time editor Scott Goldman
"Editors Mind: Secrets From The Chopping Block" is not just a book about video editing. Scott Goldman is an award-winning producer, director, editor, and music producer. What he tries to bring across in his first book is the notion that all creative processes begin in the mind. The mind is the first of all the tools that are required to produce creative products.
While the book does delve into some of the tricks of the trade including the most popular editing software, it also examines some of the actual processes and Scott's perspective on them. Some of these include time lines, color correction, and audio. But there is so much more as well as Goldman discusses his thoughts behind some of the common camera shots and film direction.
One of the things that this book seeks to bring forward is the notion that creativity is a process that has a life of its own. It is something that deserves some time to run wild. You can always reign it in. But too many times the lesser experienced person tries to craft it before it has had the chance to reveal itself.
