We live in a culture that encourages us to look outside of ourself for our own happiness. We are persuaded to apply blame and give credit to others, in the belief that they are responsible for how we feel. Societal norms consider us to be selfish and conceited if we expose any attempts to love ourself beyond minimal levels of self care and attention. We are taught to put others first, and ourself last in everything we do. 

Many children suffered physical, mental and emotional abuse from parents and caregivers who had experienced similar situations in their own upbringing. These adults unknowingly passed on their own dysfunction in an attempt to act out their distress and in a convoluted way, give to their children what was given to themself, in the mistaken belief that if it was good enough for them, it was good enough for their children. 

This book attempt to address the dysfunctional habits of people who forsake any opportunity to confront their truth, while living a destructive life, without recognising the absurdity of what they are doing.
