Did you know that the Danube River is one of Europe’s largest rivers, fed by pristine glacial waters? It’s a force of nature that feeds numerous countries—it's a symbol of freedom for many and real challenge for very few of the brave.
For me, it became something much greater: the backdrop for one of the most defining moments of my life.
My story and journey begins way back during a time when Communism held its iron grip, silencing people's voices and suppressing their dreams. Stories like mine were rarely spoken of, kept hidden in whispers or buried deep in personal memories. But I believe that time has come to break that silence.
Many years ago, on a summer day in June, I've made a daring decision to cross the Mighty Danube River. Little that I knew back then of the many dangers yet never even considering the temperatures of the Freezing waters till I found myself at point of no return as you can imagine see the actual background photo located at: "https://transilvaniaexpress.com" In my 40 unforgettable minutes, I swam against not only the natural power of the river (In The Big Boilers) but also against the weight of political borders. The only boats presence back then if any, were those of large commercial vessels’ and that of border patrols, none of them shown their presence at my times lukily, yet there I was risking everything for a chance at new life and freedom.
That journey for me become more than just a physical act—it is till this day a part of me, that unshakeable story yet to many untold as that was the moment of transformation that reshaped my perspective on life, courage, and resilience.
Now, as a world traveler and on the verge of becoming or mastering the storyteller trade here soon I hope, I’m often being asked to share part of my journey. That would be fine and dandy for entertainment sake. Since I'm not much of an entertainer, never was, I'm to much of a realist. Besides, I can't fabricate stuff other than expressing the truth, all my life been a master of my 2 hands where father time speaks of reality.
So, if I have to come out I'm coming at full speed ahead and none less than have prior, for that mighty swim once way back then. I maid as well make it worthwhile for everybody involved. If I do it I'll do it GRAND, and go out all the way, more than just a single tale. So, I’ve decided to give you something more—a single, simple story. I've decided to provide you with heart-pounding moments, a very much rare glimpse into different times, and some of the lessons I’ve learned here and there along the way.
Why share this story now? Because 2 things are definitely certain. Since I'm here the definite is that: "Everything, Absolutely Everything is Temporary"! Stories like mine, are necessary once in a while, it's just as a reminder of the power within us, that of determination and the strength of the human spirit. They should be inspiring for each and every one of us to face and conquer our own challenges with courage and to keep on striving for something much greater than what we believe in our potential.
