At the tender age of 18, armed with mechanical prowess and fortified by my membership in the esteemed British Sub Aqua Club, followed by further intensive training I plunged headfirst into the thrilling world of commercial diving. Picture this: back in the 1980s, two sturdy dive boats, each manned by a crew of four divers, rotating tirelessly to ensure the safety and integrity of England's bustling, “at that time”, Manchester Ship Canal.
Our mission from the treacherous depths of the river Mersey. We were the guardians of maritime infrastructure, tasked with maintaining lock and dock gates, executing daring salvage operations, repairing ships, and braving the abyss to free propellers ensnared in the clutches of rope and wire. Along with, hull surveys, sealing off underwater sluice doors in zero visibility and a lot more.
In the dawn of 1982, a tantalizing opportunity beckoned from distant shores, and I found myself venturing into the crystal-clear depths of the Gulf, where clarity reigned supreme. But as the year drew to a close, the call of home grew too strong to resist, and I returned to England to continue my aquatic odyssey.
Yet, a new chapter awaited a few years later, one of entrepreneurship and self-reliance. Fuelled by a thirst for independence, I immersed myself in intensive business courses, and computer courses emerging with an RSA business certificate, PC repair and Microsoft’s MCP in networking clenched in hand. From importing and repackaging tea and coffee for discerning clients to mastering the intricate art of PC repair and networking, I embraced each challenge with unwavering determination.
However, life's currents took an unexpected turn as family responsibilities beckoned. With my father battling dementia and my “then” father-in-law facing the loss of eyesight, I stepped into the role of caregiver, providing solace and support in their time of need. Yet, even amidst the tumult, the entrepreneurial spirit burned bright.
Venturing into the digital realm, I discovered a newfound passion for e-commerce, leveraging the power of platforms like Amazon FBA to market PLR DVDs, offering wellness and rejuvenation to the masses. Though the journey was not without its trials, the lessons learned were invaluable, shaping me into the resilient and compassionate individual I am today.
As I reflect on the paths traveled and the souls touched along the way, I find solace in the knowledge that every challenge has been a catalyst for growth. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a heart brimming with empathy, I stand ready to embrace the adventures that lie ahead, forever grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and make a difference in the lives of others.
