The CDC recommends washing hands for at least 20 seconds multiple times a day,but the reality of life can get in the way (on the go,in a plane,train,or subway,you the point)-and that'is when a hand sanitizer isnecessary.While there are several nonalcoholic versions of hand sanitizer on the marke,the CDC recommends one that contains at least 60% alcohol for maximum efficacy and all of those are either sold out at local retailers or going for 10-20 times their normal pice.So we turned one of our favorite DIY-ers,to get recipes for a simple homemade hand sanitizer some commercial hand sanitizer contains ingredients as scary as the germs they protect you from,so why not make your own hand sanitizer from ingredients you select?This is an excellent project for Kids as well as adults since the project can be expanded to include a discussion about hygiene and disinfection.You'll save money,protect yourself from germs,and can customize the scent of the hand sanitizer so it doesn't smell medicinal.
